Seminar Info

Mystery Bounties - Common Heuristics

In this seminar, Dr. K will provide an overview of common mystery bounty heuristics derived from their theoretical and solver research in the Bounties Made Easy course.

Topics covered include:

  • Identifying good and bad MB structures
  • Simple methods for broadly estimating if the bounty value is small, medium, or large when we cover a player
  • Range construction early and deep on Day 2 for large fields
ICM Heuristics

In this seminar, Dr. K will provide an overview of common ICM heuristics from their theoretical and solver research.

Topics covered include:

  • When does ICM start?
  • Range adjustments on the money bubble as a big, medium, and short stack
  • Range adjustments on the final table/FT bubble as a big, medium, and short stack
ICM in Limit MTTs

In this seminar, Dr. K will provide an overview of the ICM strategies they’ve developed from their 20+ years playing mixed games, as well as their recent theoretical and solver research.

Topics covered include:

  • How do limit MTT strategies differ from cash games?
  • When does ICM start?
  • How does ICM in limit play differ from big bet games?
Playing with a Big Blind Ante

In this seminar, Dr. K will discuss the differences and similarities between regular antes and big blind antes.

Topics covered include:

  • How much does ante size matter?
  • How do ranges change when playing short handed with big blind antes
  • Common heuristics for identifying when the big blind ante significantly impacts ranges

Welcome to the Spring 2024 WSOP/Series Bootcamp!

In these workshops geared toward intermediate and advanced players, Dr. K covers four topics that they believe are key to preparing for success at tournament series with a large number of variants and formats, such as the WSOP.

In the first seminar, Dr. K offers an overview of the increasingly popular mystery bounty format. This seminar is designed to offer high level but easily implementable strategies, based on the advanced theory and math developed in the Bounties Made Easy course, for accounting for the value of the bounty in game.

Next up is ICM. The Independent Chip Model offers a methodology for increasing win rates and ROI in tournaments vs chip EV formats like cash games. In ICM Heuristics, we will explore the impact of ICM on NLHE (a big bet game). ICM in Limit MTTs will explore how to adapt ICM and other tournament theory to mixed games. For those interested in learning specific mixed games, see the 8-Game Bootcamp, which gives an introduction to the most popular mixed game formats commonly found in big series.

The final seminar will focus on big blind ante play. While strategies for playing with regular vs big blind antes are largely similar, this workshop will focus on identifying key strategic differences that are especially crucial at final tables.
